Killearn Lakes HOA has initiated and completed the 3rd treatment of a planned 5 treatments for 2019.
Under Charlie Messings’ plan, we are conducting more frequent treatment (with an equivalent reduction in treatment chemical quantity to remain inside budget plans) of the algae this year. This works out to about three treatments (one per 6-7 weeks) during the summer algae growing cycle — (June through September) — and a treatment at the beginning and end of the growing cycle (April and October).
The treatment plan so far has resulted in a much better (reduced) spread of algae in the July/August time-frame. While we still see accumulation around some edges of the lake, the large surface blooms that were found all over the lake last year have been reduced.
Fishing and bird activity remains very strong and healthy.
We expect to see 2 more treatments before the end of this year.
