The Goal
Contributing Factors That Fight Reaching The Goal…
Below is what Lake Blue Heron looked like during the “Maintenance” period. The lake was drained, slowly half-filled, and then drained again, and finally filled again — over a long two-year time-frame. The “Maintenance” included the clear-cutting of most shore-line trees. The replanted seedling trees were too small to survive the beavers. As of 2021, the shorelines are being restored with vegetation, mostly by homeowners volunteering to let it grow as a nutrient barrier. The algae, while in decline, remains a seasonal nuisance. Improvement is gradual.
