Within the next few weeks we are planning to initiate this year’s first treatment for the filamentous algae in Lake Blue Heron. This is earlier than was possible in 2017 and 2018 and was made possible through the work of the Friends of Lake Blue Heron committee and the expanded commitment to help on the part of the Killearn Lakes Plantation HOA and Golden Eagle HOA boards. Please read today’s other posts on how you can help reduce treatment costs by managing your yard’s fertilization.

In speaking with Charlie, he will hold off on the spraying until we warm up and rain is not forecast. Both of those impact the effectiveness of the chemical treatment on the algae – we want the algae to be “active” when the chemicals are applied and we don’t want rain to dilute the chemicals.
We also asked about the bass breeding timing and Charlie said that breeding does not get impacted by the form of chemical used. Fish breeding will not impact his timeframe.
