Final 2020 Lake Blue Heron Treatments

Hi all, I’m a bit behind in notices, but fortunately, treatments have been spot on!!!

The 4th planned treatment was conducted on schedule in late August and Charlie plans to conduct the final fall treatment within the next week or so.

This has been the best year of “balance” I’ve experienced in 10 years or more. We have seen some filamentous algae on the surface and there is still a presence below the surface, but nothing close to what we’ve experienced in the last few years. The team appreciates your support.

We continue to see more shoreline plants (more would be better). While some of them are “intrusive” style water plants, we are keeping an eye on them. They are beneficial for reducing nutrients and helping to cool the water around the edge of the lake and birds, fish, and ducks all like to have this type cover.

The fishing is fantastic — when chatting with a passing fisher-person, I rarely hear “nope, nothing today.” In fact, most times the report is “a couple — 4 to 5 pounders. We’ve seen return of the smaller bass too (1-2 pounds), so bedding must be improving for the bass. Bait fish are very good, and all sorts of species of bream are abundant. We frequently see new hatchings on a regular basis.
